Description:
Storyteller: Adele Moss
The story of how fruit came into the world. [Set in the Amazon rainforest, this is different from the Arab wonder tale in the Story Museum's performance with exhibition.]
This story encourages the listeners to treat nature with respect and teaches how seeds spread and plant themselves in rainforest floods. The main character is called Agouti after a small furry creature that walks or runs long distances.
A good written version of this story can be found in Saviour Pirotta's Stories from the Amazon (Wayland)
Adele says 'I've told this in a rainforest house which was put up for a project in the Botanic Gardens. The children enjoyed making squawking and gibbering noises for the birds and animals who were enjoying the fruit. They also thought of all kinds of fruit that were growing on this magical tree.'
