Roehampton University’s National Centre for Research in Children’s Literature (NCRCL) promotes academic excellence, embracing pure and applied research. Its work includes: academic study; processing information gathered in surveys of children and young people’s reading habits; promoting intercultural understanding through picture books via the EU-funded European Picture Book Project; and contributing to public debate on children’s literature. It holds conferences, biennial international summer schools and runs MA and PhD programmes on children’s literature.
