Children’s Laureate (The)
Description:
A Children's Laureate is awarded once every two years to an eminent writer or illustrator of children's books to celebrate outstanding achievement. The appointment, which has a bursary of £10,000, acknowledges the importance of exceptional children's authors in creating the readers of tomorrow. Anthony Browne is the current Children's Laureate. Previous holders are:

Michael Morpurgo (2003-5)
Anne Fine (2001-3)
Quentin Blake (1999-2001)

The award is administered by Booktrust, an independent national charity.
