other family events

We organise events to help children engage with and enjoy stories with their families and friends. These range from author events (including Michael Rosen, left, who is one of our patrons), to storytelling in shopping centres, and our annual extravaganza, Alice's Day, a one-day celebration of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with exhibitions, talks, activities and magical performances across the city of Oxford.

Last year more than 600 people took the chance to look behind the Victorian exterior of Rochester House, our new home in Oxford's Pembroke Street, enjoying tours as part of Oxford Open Doors Weekend in September.

Our events for adults have included reading groups and a Big Read event with Joanna Trollope and Libby Purves.

Visit our events picture gallery to see some of the fun children and parents have had with authors, illustrators, actors and storytellers. We plan to hold more in our newly-converted Story Exchange, giving people a chance to glimpse inside our new home as plans for its transformation move forward.

a brillig day out

"Both my children woke up and ran downstairs shouting 'Is it Alice's Day again today?' and 'Why can't there be an Alice's Day every weekend?' They just loved every bit of it. Well done: it was fantastic."

This year's Alice Day is on Saturday July 9.
