About the event

Bring your favourite animal to life in 3D stop-motion.

In the first session have fun exploring 2D cut-out techniques and create your own hinged puppets to star in a film. Take your animation skills to the next level in the second session by discovering 3D stop-motion with clay-modelling and magical morphing. From storyboarding to the editing suite, you’ll learn everything you need to know fundamentals of animation with Helen Piercy

Day schedule:

10.00-12.30: Session 1 – 2D cut-out workshop*

12.30-13.30: lunch break (supervised for children taking both sessions)

13.30-16.00: Session 2 – 3D clay-modelling workshop*

*Workshops can be booked separately for £30 each (half-day) or together for £50 (full-day). Each session will include a 15 minute screening at the end, which parents can attend.

About Helen Piercy

Helen is a London based animator and illustrator whose work as a moving image director spans digital, 2D, stop-frame animation and live-action. Her great passion for filmmaking led her to set up Helen Animate Workshops, teaching young people of all ages and abilities animation skills. Helen currently runs workshops in schools, museums, theatres and even music festivals! Her past clients include Museum of London, Saatchi Gallery and the BFI.  Helen is the author of Animation Studio, a fantastic how-to kit for children to learn animation techniques. See:
