Led by the Old Green Grasshopper, Miss Ladybird and Arachne Spider this gorgeous show transforms perceptions of insects and demonstrates the vital contribution the tiny friends make to our existence. Our Story Explorer courses offer young people aged 8-12 the opportunity to explore their creativity, with guest appearances from professional story-makers including authors, artists, musicians and drama practitioners. Sessions are led by our expert Story Leaders and involve plenty of games and fun along the way. It's a great way to make new friends, try new activities and immerse yourself in the world of stories.
Three days of workshops with a thoroughly spooky focus on spine-chilling tales of witches, vampires and skeletons to get you in the Halloween mood.
Tuesday 24 October: Earth
Listen to tales of walking skeletons and drifting bones from far-flung corners of the earth, as our Story Leaders share some spooky tales that you'll bring to life with role play and dressing up.
Wednesday 25 October: Wind
Are you brave enough for Dracula Day? Delve deep into this classic story, then create your own bat costume to fly through the air on the wind
Thursday 26 October: Fire
Today we’ll move to a dark, misty night and meet the Three Witches from Shakespeare’s MacBeth. We’ll then make some awesome witchy craft with our friends from ArtBurst.

Delve deeper into the world of pets than you ever have before, with Dr Jess French, author and vet known for her CBeebies show Minibest Adventure. Pets and Their People provides inspiration for kids aged 7-9 who can't own pets, showing them that we can care for animals in lots of other ways - from volunteering at animal shelters to leaving food for them out in the wild In partnership with IF Oxford Science & Ideas Festival. Followed by book signing.
A creative climate protest workshop including environmentally-themed stories and protest-themed crafts with author, Zoe Tucker. Zoe's picture book, Greta and the Giants tells the story of Greta Thunberg's environmental mission, re-imagining Greta as a forest child struggling against giants who are chopping down all the trees. Listen to the story and then design your own protest placard with Zoe. In partnership with IF Oxford Science and Ideas Festival.
Join award winning World Book Day author and illustrator, Sophy Henn for a journey through her Lifesize series. See how you measure up against some of the world’s most amazing creatures and discover mind-blowing animal facts. A fun packed, informative, interactive event, including a draw-along. Followed by book signing. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
A day-long workshop exploring stories in spoken word, poetry and hip-hop lyrics with celebrated Oxford MC and poet, Rawz. Learn how to create your own lyrics and bring them to life in performance poetry.
"Roll up! Roll up! For The Greatest Show on Earth!" Join author and illustrator, Mini Grey, as she takes you on a whistle-stop tour through the story of life on Earth in this fabulous, interactive event where you’ll get to create your own insect theatre show! In partnership with IF Oxford Science and Ideas Festival. There will be book signings, and a chance to chat to Mini Grey after her talk.
Develop your comic making skills with awesome comic artist, Neill Cameron who will be on hand to offer helpful advice and tips. The session at 11:00 is for children aged 8-11 and the 13:30 session of for ages 12-16. The sessions are 90 minutes long.
