A very special event in the Dodgson Room at Christ Church with specialist Philip Roberts introducing the Magic Lantern.
Specialist Phillip Roberts introduces the Magic Lantern, a 19th century storytelling device used by travelling entertainers, in the Dodgson Room at Christ Church. The event will include a performance of Lewis Carroll's slides recently acquired by Christ Church Library.
About Phillip Roberts:
Phillip is a researcher working with the National Science and Media Museum and University of York. He is writing a history of the magic lantern in the nineteenth century and has published work in Film History, Cultural Politics, The Magic Lantern and Early Popular Visual Culture.
Maximum 20 people per session.
