Neill Cameron’s Comics Club

Develop your comic-making skills and share ideas with like-minded enthusiasts. Awesome comic artist Neill Cameron will be on hand to offer helpful advice and tips. Comics Club meets on the first Saturday of the month – come for a single session or become a regular!

For our March session of Comics Club, we’re going to be undertaking our most ambitious challenge yet – writing and drawing a complete comic, as a group, from start to finish! In the tradition of much-loved comics like The Beano and The Phoenix, every team member will contribute their own comic strip, as well as helping out on cover art, logo design and editorial decisions!

The finished work will be collated, scanned in and printed off as a comic which every contributor will get a copy of at the next session. But that’s not all! We’re going to be sending our finished issue off to be part of Comic Swap, a national project organised in association with Seven Stories: The National Centre For Children’s Books, so kids all over the country will get to read our team’s work!

About Neill

Neill Cameron is a cartoonist and writer, creator of the young adult graphic novels Mo-Bot High and the instructional How To Make Awesome Comics. Since 2011 his work has appeared in the weekly children’s comic The Phoenix, where he produces – amongst other things – the dinosaur adventure serial The Pirates of Pangaea (with co-writer Daniel Hartwell), the robotic soap opera comedy Mega Robo Bros, and (with artist Kate Brown) the Cornish-set fantasy drama Tamsin and the Deep. Neill frequently travels the country giving workshops in schools, libraries and at festivals, and is a passionate advocate for the role comics can play in fostering literacy and encouraging children’s creativity.
