THE CRICK CLUB PRESENTS

TRICKSTER

PERFORMANCE STORYTELLING WITH TUUP, NELL PHOENIX, & TIM RALPHS

Anansi, Loki, Mr, Mrs & MX Coyote, Till Eulenspiegel, Scheherazade, Māui, Baubo, Mr Punch, the Devil, Raven, Banksy.... the Trickster is everywhere.

By transgressing every rule, norm & taboo, these agents of disruption help us to set our moral compass - holding up a mirror to the world, creating through chaos, and upsetting the social order at every step.

In a wild exploration of grown-up fairytale, folktale and rumour, enter the comedic, unpredictable and downright dangerous world of the Trickster in all its many disguises. Expect a night of gleeful deceit, shapeshifting and anarchic tomfoolery, as Nell Phoenix, Tim Ralphs and TUUP flip the joker in the pack.

'Storytelling wizards' LONDONIST

'The art of storytelling is in the surest, safest hands here.' REMOTE GOAT

'The Crick Crack Club weaves a web of enchantment' TIMEOUT

'The UK's most vivid and exciting storytelling organisation' IAN MCMILLAN, THE TIMES

NELL PHOENIX beautifully balances the comedic, the magical, and the downright rude, through an utterly engaging storytelling style. Recent work includes stories told at Highgrove, Hackney Library, Kensington Palace, the V&A and at 40 Winks.

TUUP is The Unorthodox, Unprecedented Preacher. Born in Guyana and raised in Acton, his style is one of total improvisation, unbounded charisma and alarming spontaneity. He is also the creative lyricist and vocalist of the highly influential dance music collective, Transglobal Underground.

TIM RALPHS' performances merge the contemporary with the ancient with enviable integrity. He draws on our common narrative inheritance, live adaptations of absurd texts, wondrous re-imaginings of classic fairytale material, and his own delightful brand of surrealism.
