Three days of workshops for young people aged 8-12 inspired by our Here Be Dragons exhibitions, you'll explore a world of myths and magical creatures.
Our Story Explorer courses offer young people aged 8-12 the opportunity to explore their creativity, with guest appearances from professional story-makers including authors, artists, musicians and drama practitioners. Sessions are led by our expert Story Leaders and involve plenty of games and fun along the way. It's a great way to make new friends, try new activities and immerse yourself in the world of stories.
Tuesday 28 October:
Today we will enter the cave of dragon lore in our exhibition Here Be Dragons. We'll explore the natural history of dragons—where they came from, how they lived, and what made them roar. You will then unleash your imagination and make your own dragon puppet with storyteller and puppeteer Oliver Bishop.
Wednesday 29 October:
Today we will meet the Dragons of the East, where these majestic beings are symbols of power, wisdom, and good fortune. Instead of fighting them, people honor them! Dragons are seen as protectors, bringers of rain, and even ancestors. You will take part in a fun and crative printmaking workshop with artist Viola Wang and learn how to create your very own dragon print to take home.
Thursday 30 October:
Come on a quest with Rolldark in an immersive game of Dungeons and Dragons - choose your character and embark on an imaginary adventure exploring castles dungeons, treasures and dragons.
At The Story Museum we believe that finances should not impact a young person’s ability to access the arts. Therefore, we offer bursaries for the course price and related travel expenses for low-income families. To apply for a bursary place, please email us.
