About Cressida

Cressida Cowell grew up in London and on a small, uninhabited Scottish island. As a child she loved all forms of storytelling, and at eight began to write stories about Vikings and dragons. After reading English literature at Oxford University, she studied art and illustration, finding a commercial publisher for her final project, a children’s book about Bo Peep, which launched her writing career. Since then she has written ten more picture books, including the Emily Brown stories, and eleven volumes of her very popular Hiccup series for older children. The first, How to Train Your Dragon, became a film in 2010.
