Story

Bluebell Gadsby documents her life and her family through her diary entries and transcripts of the videos she makes. In amongst the chaos and drama of family life Blue struggles to come to terms with the death of her sister, Iris.

Why we chose it

Bluebell Gadsby draws the reader into her family, the chaos of everyday life, the dramas and the humour -and underneath it all how much she misses Iris . A warm and witty family story and a sensitive and accurate depiction of loss of a sibling.

Where it came from

Having written a historical novel set in the second world war (The Things We Did For Love) Natasha Farrant turned to writing about what she most likes to write about – what it means to be a family.

Where it went next

After Iris was followed by three more stories about the Gadsby family, Flora in Love, All About Pumpkin and Time for Jas.
