Oral tradition Chinese folktale

A story from China to remind us of the rewards of honesty.

Story

An old woodcutter finds a baby in a basket and adopts the child, Chun Ping. Chun Ping is rewarded for his honesty while the woodcutter pays the price for his greed.

Why we chose it

Chun Ping was one of the stories in The Story Museum’s original audio stories collection.

Where it came from

Adam Guillan heard the story from his lecturer Judith Graham – he says it is a classic Chinese folk tale.
