Kirk Bergman and Duncan Mcboo, top canine cops, are on the case

Story

Kirk Bergman and Duncan Mcboo are the craftiest cops in town, sniffing out criminal activity throughout the neighbourhood! Criminals, you better watch out, these quick cops are on your tail!

Why we chose it

An action packed comic story introducing a team of canine cops, full of physical comedy, packed with jokes and with the style and feel of Hollywood film noir.

Where it came from

Dave Shelton studied illustration at Cambridge and has lived there ever since. He created the first Good Dog, Bad Dog comic strip for DFC comics in 2007. He has his own beloved dog Barney!... and a cat.

Where it went next

Double Identity, a second Good Dog, Bad Dog collection was released in 2014.

Associated stories

Dave Shelton’s debut novel A Boy and Bear in a Boat was nominated for both the Carnegie medal and the Costa prize.

Emily Lime Librarian Detective: The Book Case is a very funny mystery story with an old fashioned 1930s feel while Thirteen Chairs is a chilling and spooky thriller for older children who enjoy scary stories.

Dogs are popular comic strip characters, often as sidekicks, like Gnasher in Denis the Menace or Odie in Garfield. Perhaps the best known comic strip dog of them all is Snoopy.
