Story

Explore the ancient, mysterious world of Journey as you soar above ruins and glide across sands to discover its secrets. Play alone or in the company of a fellow traveller and explore its vast world together.

Why we chose it

A great example in a computer game of a story told without words, with striking visuals and haunting music. The game can be experienced with (and is enhanced by playing with) another person.

Where it came from

Journey was developed by Thatgamecompany working with Sony Computer Entertainment. The creative team wanted a minimalist feel so that players can explore and wonder without intrusive instructions. They based the desert setting on the Middle East and Arabic art and architechture.

Where it went next

Journey has won many industry awards, many for its storytelling. The musical score was nominated for a Grammy and the soundtrack released as an album.
