Three orphaned children discover that their adoptive parents are actually aliens.

Story

My Parents are Aliens follows the story of three orphaned children Mel, Josh and Lucy Barker who are adopted by aliens. Brian and Sophie Johnson are from the planet Valux and have crash-landed their ship. They have a very limited knowledge of Earth and Mel, Josh and Lucy must teach them to protect their secret so they can remain as a family. Each episode revolves around a new scrape Brian and Lucy get themselves into. They have the power to morph into other people which leads to much comedy and confusion.

Why we chose it

Children loved the idea of discovering that their parents were aliens!

Where it came from

The series was created for CITV as part of their children’s programming.

Where it went next

The series showed the Barker family for 7 series, by which point the youngest, Lucy, was 16 years old. In 2006 the series wiped the slate clean with a new family for series 8. Brian and Lucy have had their minds erased and have crashed again. They take on a new foster family – Jaq, Dan, Becky and Eddie Bennett. This family only lasted for one series before the show was cancelled.

Associated stories

In 2007 a series Agadam Bagdam Tigdam was created for Disney Channel India, loosely based on the My Parents are Aliens premise.
