Story

Peppa Pig is four years old and she lives with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and her baby brother George. Peppa loves playing with her brother and her friends, laughing and jumping in muddy puddles. In each episode Peppa Pig does things that normal children do like visiting her grandparents, having a pen pal and playing with friends. Peppa can be quite bossy and likes telling people what to do.

Why we chose it

Peppa Pig is hugely successful and loved by small children across the world.

Where it came from

The creators have said they wanted to create a children’s character who did things which children could relate to. The actress who plays Peppa is always a young child so her mispronunciations and mistakes are real. Peppa was an instant success and won a BAFTA in her first year.

The series is shown in over 180 countries around the world.

There are Peppa Pig Theme Parks - Peppa Pig World – in England and Italy where children can meet Peppa and her friends, go on rides, visit the play zones and the Muddy Puddles Water Splash Park.

Peppa also has a lot of interactive story book apps where children can do things like dress Peppa up for the day, fly a rocket through space, help Peppa feed the ducks and sing along to the Muddy Puddles Song.

Peppa Pig has her own website where parents can print activities as well as star charts for activities like brushing teeth and eating your fruit and veg. There are also many Peppa Pig books and a huge amount of merchandise including toys, games, clothing, plates, mugs, towels and stationary. In 2014 Peppa was on the British stamp.
