Dion and his mother try to come to terms with his new superpowers.

Story

Nicole is working hard to raise her son Dion alone after the death of her husband Mark. Dion starts to gain superpowers. He can control storms and fire and teleport. Nicole now must keep Dion safe from people who want to control him while also working out how he came by his powers.

Why we chose it

A superhero story for the young and young at heart. It combines the realism of the mother’s situation – widowed, unemployed and fearful for her son – with the joy of and child discovering his extraordinary powers.

Where it came from

The story is based on a comic book and short film written by Dennis Liu who wanted to create more representive superheroes.

Where it went next

Netflix have announced plans to release a second season.
