Story

Shade is the youngest and smallest Silverwing bat in his colony. But despite this he is determined to prove his worth to them. When on their migration to the South Shade gets whisked away by the storm separating him from the only thing he has ever known in his entire life, his family. He is quickly forced to face the uncertainty of life and voyage on a journey to re-join them.

Why we chose it

An epic animal saga as Shade embarks on a quest to find his family. Oppel creates a mythology for the bats, which brings their world to life. A great story for animal lovers and fans of fantasy.
