Where would you take a poem?

Story

Why not take a poem

wherever you go?

Pop it in your pocket

nobody will know…

The poet invites the reader to take a poem with them wherever they are going.

Why we chose it

Take a Poem is included in the anthology Zim Zam Zoom, a collection of poems written to be performed. The rhyme and repetition, the fun and the humour, make a great introduction to performing poetry for children.

Where it came from

James Carter is an Oxfordshire based poet. He runs regular children’s workshops in schools and performs his poetry at festivals, libraries, and in museums.

Where it went next

The anthology Zim Zam Zoom was shortlisted for a CLiPPA award in 2017

Associated stories

James Carter’s poetry includes riddles, action rhymes, songs and humour. He has published a number of poetry books including Hey Little Bug! and I’m a Little Alien.
