A tall tale with a puzzling ending.

Story

A frog and a snake simultaneously start to eat each other. Where do they go?

Why we chose it

The Snake and the Frog is a tall tale. Children love listening to tall tales and creating their own. This was one of the stories in our original audio stories collection.

Where it came from

Storyteller Chris Smith recorded The Snake and the Frog for our audio stories collection.

Where it went next

A written version can be found in More Ready-to-Tell Tales by David Holt, Jon Spelman and Bill Mooney. It is one of the stories in Chris Smith’s 147 Traditional Tales for Primary School Children to Retell.

Associated stories

A story from India about frogs and a snake can be found in the Panchatantra. In this story the snake tricks the frog royal family into letting him eat all the frogs in the kingdom.
