Where it came from
Brian Patten was born in Liverpool and after leaving school at 15 became a reporter for a local newspaper and then the editor of Underdog where he came to know the other 'Liverpool poets’ Roger McGough and Adrian Henri. He is best known as a poet for adults as well as children.
Where it went next
In 2004 an edition of The Story Giant was published illustrated by Chris Riddell.
In 2017 it was adapted for theatre and performed at the Liverpool Everyman
