Why we chose it

Each individual memory sequence greatly differs from the others in terms of style and genre. Giant Sparrow’s ability to create a variety of quality narratives while maintaining an immersive experience for the player is exactly why video games are starting to be considered as an art form.

Where it came from

What Remains of Edith Finch was developed by Giant Sparrow and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game was born out of Giant Sparrow’s desire to create a game that recognises ‘the uneasiness of being alone in a vast and unknowable universe’.

Where it went next

It was named ‘the most anticipated game of 2017’ by multiple publications. This expectation was exceeded as the game went on to win 5 awards for its captivating use of narrative, and was nominated for several other awards.

Associated Stories

Giant Sparrow previously developed The Unfinished Swan in 2012. Throughout the game the player embodies a young boy chasing after a swan. The game begins as a white screen with the player thrusting paint splatters into a blank void to gradually reveal the stunning and mystical surroundings.
