Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils

The Story Museum is delighted to be working with Cheltenham Festivals in delivering the Festivals’ network of teacher book groups in Oxfordshire.

Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils is a Cheltenham Festivals programme delivered in partnership with like-minded organisations across the UK including Books Council of Wales, Bradford Literature Festival, Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE), English and Media Centre, National Centre for Writing, National Literacy Trust, KEAP (The Writers’ Block), Peters, Seven Stories the National Centre for Children's Books, The Reader, The Story Museum and Wigtown Festival Company.

Set up in 2016, the national network of teachers reading groups aims to inspire reading for pleasure because research shows that children who read for pleasure experience high levels of well-being, engage in learning and are successful in life.

The Story Museum will be hosting a primary RTRP programme which is open to all Key Stage 2 teachers. As the selected novels are most appropriate for Year 5/6 pupils, priority is given to teachers of these year groups. To include as many schools as possible, places are limited to two teachers per school.

All sessions will be led by members of our expert teaching team at The Story Museum. The group is FREE to attend, and the shared resources are distributed throughout the year along with two copies of each of the 5 titles.

Applications are now open.

The sessions will take place at The Story Museum, 42 Pembroke Street, Oxford, OX1 1BP and the group leader will be Lucy Webber, Story Leader. All the dates for the sessions can be found via the table below.
