See below for details about visits for Home Educating groups and groups for people with SEND.
We offer designated Home Educating Visit Days. Our next Home Educating Visit Days will be held on:
Friday 12 November 2021
Friday 14 January 2022
A visit includes a guided tour of our gallery spaces, a live oral storytelling experience and a literacy activity session led by our Learning Team of experienced, qualified primary and secondary teachers.
Our home educated days run timetabled sessions for children aged 5+. For children aged 0-5, we recommend booking a public Small Worlds session of structured play through the website.
If you are unable to attend on the above dates, please book a public visit to our Galleries through the website.

We provide 90 to 120-minute sensory story sessions for groups with special educational needs and disabilities. The sessions begin with a live oral storytelling using multisensory approaches. This is followed by a guided tour of the Museum and ends with a session in which the participants can explore the world of story through craft, role play, toys, props, dressing up and more oral storytelling. We can tailor this to a story (book, film, comic strip etc.) that your group particularly enjoys.
For the best experience, sessions should be booked for no more than 20 participants at a time. We welcome the opportunity to discuss the needs and requirements of your group at the time of booking.
Cost (all accompanying carers visit for free):
£10+VAT per head for groups of 6-10
£9+VAT per head for groups of 11-20
