Home Educator Visits

We regularly offer designated Home Educator Visit Days .

Come and enjoy The Story Museum for a special day visit for Home Educating families. Explore the galleries at your own pace and enjoy a range of storytelling and creative sessions.

The offer includes all-day public gallery entry so you can explore the Whispering Wood, our exciting new Mystery Academy: School for Young Detectives exhibition in the Treasure Chamber, Enchanted Library and our brand-new exhibition, The Story Arcade to your heart’s content (10:00 – 16:30). Our Small Worlds space (recommended for under 5s) will also be open for families to book onto the public sessions, via our website, if desired. The Story Museum café and shop will be open for all your snacking and shopping needs.

In the afternoon members of the Learning Team will run two exclusive workshops for Home Educator families only – the first one from 13:00-14:00 and the second from 14:15-15:15. These bespoke workshops are designed specifically to cater to the needs of mixed ages from 5 years old and families are welcome to join one or both. They include oral storytelling and a range of tailored activities designed for the children to provide their own individual creative responses including guided role play and crafts to encourage discussion. Creative writing responses to the stimulus are also available and these can be differentiated depending on the individuals who have booked. The Story Leaders are available throughout the sessions.
