A special day just for Home Educating families
We are offering our home educating families exclusive access to the museum for five hours (10am – 3pm) including all the galleries where you can explore at your own speed, including the Enchanted Library, the Treasure Chamber with our Brilli-ANT exhibition about positive ways to tackle climate change, our early years space 'Small Worlds' and our film experience 'City of Stories'.
Four x 60 minute drop-in workshops will also take place during the day. The workshops, led by our qualified and experienced primary and secondary teachers, include oral storytelling and a range of activities where the children can respond to the story in different ways. These activities include guided role play, high quality crafts to enable discussions and further opportunities for role play. Creative writing responses to the stimulus are also available and these can be differentiated depending on the particular individuals who have booked. The Session Leaders are available throughout the session to provide target 1:1 support if necessary.
“It was a perfect mix with something for every age without being at all prescriptive. Was a great jumping off point for further study later.” Home Educating Visit Day attendee January 2023
