Learn how to make your very own Smaug Dragon in a paper-folding workshop with origami artist, Peter Buchan-Symons.

Join us to say happy birthday to Hobbits, Bilbo and Frodo Baggins on International Hobbit Day! There will be special hobbit-themed food in the museum café and an opportunity to make your very own Smaug Dragon or Dragon Snapper in this family paper-folding workshop with origami artist, Peter Buchan-Symons. You can also pick up a ‘make a mini Smaug’ pack to take home!

Peter began folding paper when he was six years old and started designing his own origami models shortly afterwards. He joined the British Origami Society at age eight, and had three appearances on children's television over the next few years. During his teenage years, he displayed and taught his models at national origami conventions.

After studying mathematics at Oxford, Peter taught Maths at a secondary school. He is now a professional origami artist and a published author on mathematical approaches to designing origami. He takes private commissions, makes instructional origami videos, and is a regular contributor to the British Origami Society magazine.

Ages 8+

This is a family workshop and all children and adults need tickets. Children must be accompanied.

With thanks to the Oxford Centre for Fantasy for their generous support of our Dragons event season.
