Let your imagination take flight with our Story Explorer courses for the Easter Holidays. For ages 8-12.

This week you will explore the sky and space in stories - from UFOs to broomsticks you will find out about the story of Icarus who flew to close to the sun, uncover the aliens of War of the Worlds and explore broomsticks and vampire bats. The week includes decorating your own broomstick, devising mini parachutes and alien dancing!

Tuesday 9 April: Frivolous Feathers and Foolish Wings
Today includes a workshop where you will make your own feathered friend and learn how to bring it to life with professional puppeteer Lori Hopkins. These vibrant moving-mouth puppets will be a starting point to inspire you to create your own bird character and story.

Wednesday 10 April: Broomsticks and Batwings
The day includes an opportunity take to your broomsticks and have a go at Quadball, inspired by the fictional sport played in the Harry Potter books by JK Rowling. Learn the basic of chasing, beating and seeking with the University of Oxford’s Quadball team. Please note this session will take place off site.
About the session: Starting with a warmup, members of the Oxford team will teach you the basics of the game and lead you through a number of drills to practise the core skills of chasing, beating and seeking. Once people have had a chance to try all three, everyone will be split into two teams to play a quidditch match against each other, refereed by members of the club. There will be no contact during the game or drills. Attendees are recommended to wear loose clothing they can do sports in, wear trainers or studded boots, and make sure to bring a bottle of water! Mouth guards are not necessary.

Thursday 11 April: Spaceships and UFOs
The Aliens Have Landed! Today includes a fun clowning workshop with Four Eyed Theatre. Through a series of playful games you will create an alien character, discover your aliens' voice, its likes and dislikes - how does your alien respond to music? Does it like applause or is it shy? Enter a world of play, fun and clowning about!

Make new friends and hone your story skills in a fun holiday workshop. Work with professional artists and creatives, with plenty of dressing-up, role play, craft, games and chat along the way! Just bring your imagination, a packed lunch and clothes that you don't mind getting messy in.

For ages 8-12.

Courses run from 10:00-16:00 each day. Add on wrap-around care at the check-out for an additional £16.00 per day to extend the day from 09:00-17:00. Book individual days or all three.

At The Story Museum we believe that finances should not impact a young person’s ability to access the arts. Therefore, we offer bursaries for the course price and related travel expenses for low-income families. To apply for a bursary place, please email us.
