    The Whispering Wood is included within an all day ticket for the Galleries.

    The Galleries are open daily to the public during state school holidays and from Tuesday to Sunday during term time.

    Last entry to the Galleries is one hour before closing time.

Enter a mysterious indoor forest where every tree has a story to tell and a secret to reveal.

But first you must complete a challenge. Can you reveal Anansi the cunning spider? Or discover the curse across the land? Pick the perfect gift for the Norse gods? Or prove yourself fit to wear Arthur’s crown? And can you spot the shadow animals hiding amongst the trees?

Trace the ancient roots of story in the Whispering Wood, where each tree has a tale to tell and a secret to reveal. As you explore, take a moment to pause in our woodland clearing to enjoy some live traditional storytelling, performed by our fantastic story guides.

These spoken stories continue to delight, and shape many of the books and comics, films and games we love today.

The Whispering Wood is an immersive exhibition with something for all ages.
